Guided Tours, Photo Workshops, and Events:
First and foremost: Over the last few years, countless hours & days have been invested in scouting out suitable photographing areas. Not all my days spent in the field have been a success, more often than not, many days were very uneventful and costly. The amount of work, time, research, money, and energy that is required to obtain a good grasp on where wildlife may be in certain areas is momentous. When people ask for locations of where I photograph, for this reason, and others, I do not give them out. Not only have I invested a lot of my personal time and money into doing what I do, but I also strongly believe in having a good set of ethics when it comes to photographing wildlife. I have seen first-hand what giving out locations creates, usually a photographer circus, which only causes stress for the wildlife and makes capturing my own images impossible. Not every photographer is disrespectful, which I understand, but the work in which I have invested isn’t free for the taking. This is the reason being for strict terms, and non-disclosure agreement. If there is a problem with these expectations, then I am not the guide for you.
Guided Tours
PRIVATE GUIDED TOURS FOR ONE TO THREE PEOPLE:
I have limited availability (approx 4 weeks out of the year) for in the field photography tours with focus on the fauna, and landscape. While wildlife sightings are never guaranteed on these tours, it is safe to say that the east coast of Canada has a healthy population of red foxes that are often seen and can be photographed. Other animals of interests in the area are the bald eagles, osprey (summer), great blue heron, water fowl, harbor seals, and smaller mammals such as the snowshoe hare. Keep in mind: the animals come first- the well-being of the wildlife on these tours is the primary concern, not the photo ops. I approach wildlife photography in an ethical manner in order to provide the least amount of stress to the animal, and in order to have a sustainable photography practice. We will keep safe distances, and will not chase after animals to get a photo. As part of tour ethics, locations of sighting may never be given out. If the wildlife appear to be bothered by our presence, we will move on. None of the wild animals we photograph will be baited or lured (scents, food, hunting calls), if there are any attempts to do so, tour will end immediately. Please be sure to read over all tour terms & conditions prior to inquiring/agreeing to participate on tour. You may schedule excursions with me through email. A non-refundable deposit is required to hold the date/s of your tour. Available tour dates are very limited and sell out quickly.
PREREQUISITES are that you have a firm understanding of how to operate your camera. While I am happy to provide tips on shooting wildlife as it applies to the area, this is not a workshop but rather a guided tour. The majority of my energy is spent tracking and reading the behavior of the animals for us to photograph.
